The test has no direct contact with the eyes, your eyes will open before surgery. Fluorescein dye is injected into a blood vessel in your arm or hand. As the dye travels through the bloodstream of the eye, blood flow to the retina is imaged. Images may show abnormal blood vessels or damage to the retina.
