Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical coherence tomography is a non-invasive imaging technique used to obtain high-resolution cross-sectional images of the retina. It can distinguish layers within the retina and measure the thickness of the retina to support the early detection and diagnosis of retinal diseases and conditions. OCT testing has become the standard of care for the evaluation and treatment of most retinal disorders. OCT uses light rays to measure the thickness of the retina. No radion or x-rays are used in this test. OCT scans are painless and not unpleasant.
